Five Minute Friday — Breathe

This is kind of weird, actually writing a Five Minute Friday post on a Friday. It’s been so long since this has happened. Usually I’m one of the trailers in the group. This week I’ll probably end up closer to the middle.

Five Minute Friday is designed for Friday writing, specifically five minutes of uninterrupted patter of the fingers representing the thoughts of the heart, soul and mind. Our fearless moderator — with help from her Twitter friends — supplies us with the one word prompt and off we go! When done, we link up at her site (http://katemotaung.com/2017/02/02/five-minute-friday-breathe-lisa-jo-baker/), then settle in to gently critique and soak in our neighbors’ work. I can’t wait to find new friends this week!

I invite you to join us in reading the wide interpretations and multi-genre presentations of the prompt. Or, better yet, try your hand! It’s five minutes (more or less) with few rules and no obligations. It’s fun (albeit sometimes challenging). It’s networking at its finest.

This week, the girls came up with BREATHE as the prompt. The timer is set, so it’s time to GO…

You’re weary about the election. It’s taxing sifting fact from fiction. Friendships may be strained as posts are presented — flattering or unflattering — of the new administration.

Stop. Breathe. God is in control.

The kids are screaming and pulling you in different directions. Every one, from family to work to friends , wants a piece of your time and talent.

Stop. Breathe, God is in control.

Your faith life has taken a back seat to the pressures of life. Carve out five minutes to write? It’s hard enough t carve out five minutes to pray!

Stop. Breathe. God is in control.

The simple solution to all we call life is sometimes to just Stop. Breathe. Shut out the world for a few moments — or longer if feasible — close your eyes and just breathe. As you exhale, push out the pressures of the moment. As you inhale, bring in the lovingkindness of a God who always … STOP

… walks with you. Yeah, even when we don’t acknowledge His presence. Yeah, even when we deliberately or even unitentionally push Him aside. Yeah, even when we become so self-absorbed with … us. Jesus is there with you. Stop. Breathe. Let His love overtake you.

So chill. There are good days and there are bad days. Sometimes it rains on the parade but gives needed water to the asparagus plants. Things are not black and white but a kaleidoscope of vibrant colors and shades. Open your mind and allow your heart to open. Too many people hear but too few actually listen. The words never make it from their ears to their heart.

Stop. Breathe. God is in control!

THOUGHT TO REMEMBER: Let prayer be your first thought not last resort.

    Hi there,
I love the Stop. Breathe. God is in control.
I try to tell our American friends here in AZ to do that (we are Snowbirds from Canada). But they are not believers so – they don’t hear God (although as you said, He hears them). So I pray for them as well. I feel their angst.
But I know it’s all known by God. We know He uses everything to bring Him glory.
    It’s great to meet you.
    Blessings,
    Janis

I’m joining you today from Five Minute Friday, and have so enjoyed “meeting” you and reading your post.

It’s refreshing to hear from some male bloggers, as most of what I read and connect with daily online is from my female friends and acquaintances. I find that the words of my husband, my father, and now even my teen/young adult sons have the God-given ability to speak truth to my heart in a firm but loving way.

Your post is so full of truth! How we need to stop and breathe and trust God! I wrote from this perspective today as well, but more from my personal viewpoint, whereas I love how you related this also to the atmosphere (esp. politically) around us as well.

God bless you as you continue to share your words of wisdom with others.

Thank God He is, because breathing has been so painful for these last two years. Thank you. God bless.
