Today’s Words for the Week are from Ray Lammie in his Thought for Today.
From birth to age 12 seemed like it took 20 years.
From 12 until age 16 felt like 15 years to me.
From 16 to age 21 was another 10 years.
From age 21 to age 30 was a tough 15 years.
From 30 to the age of 50 seemed like it only took about 8 years.
From 50 until age 60 was very strange — I went to bed one night at 50 and woke up 60!
After age 60 you get up in the morning, grab something to eat, and presto it’s midnight.
Value every year, every day, every hour and even every minute. Don’t spend a lot of time looking forward to some “certain event”; it will surely come soon enough. Spend your time and thoughts in the wonder and the miracle of “today”. Grab hold of this day with passion, desire, love, and with a positive outlook. Life is a wonderful adventure. I sure wish I had found that out at the beginning of this journey.
THOUGHT TO REMEMBER: Sadness flies away on the wings of time. — Jean de La Fontaine
The end may come in winter,
or it may arrive in fall,
or on a spring dawn’s glimmer,
but I don’t want to end at all.
I want to see the diamond lights
of afterburning jets,
get into vicious beer-hall fights,
and place some high-stakes bets.
I want to take the rugby pitch,
give blood and break some bone,
see hot girls (I don’t care which)
and climb Everest alone.
So much to do so much to try,
so busy, and don’t want to die.

I have noticed that the older I become, the faster time seems to elapse. When I was very young, I couldn’t wait to be a teenager. I was 12, then 12 1/2, and finally after what seemed like an eternity, I was finally 13, and a teenager. My grandparents were in their 60s, and I thought that was ancient. I’ll never be in my 60s. That’s light years away. Well, guess what ? I’m 73 now, and I’m ancient….LOL.
There is one advantage of becoming older. Maturity usually comes with age. I am getting older, but I am much wiser than I was when I was young. There is an old adage: Youth is wasted on the young. By the time we are able to understand the true meaning of our journey during our Earthly existence, our youth is gone, and we are in our twilight years. But we can pass on our wisdom and knowledge to those of us who are younger than we are.

We’ll see! I’m in Kentucky right now and will be heading to my youngest son’s home in South Carolina this weekend. I expect to be there through the end of the year. Have a Merry Christmas!
